Drawing is the common denominator of all art. This class is an introduction to the four components of drawing: experience, observation, confidence, and creativity.
Week 1. Drawing a still life with graphite sticks.
Week 2. Positive and negative space exercises.
Week 3. Line drawing with Sharpies.
Week 4. Charcoal drawing on brown paper, indicating highlights with white pencil.
Week 5. Introduction to portrait drawing.
Week 6. Drawing portraits of each other, and from photos.
Supplies that students will need to bring:
- Paper 9” x 12” or larger drawing pad, at least 70 lb., or at least 5 sheets of drawing paper
- Graphite Stick Square, not round. Usually sold in packs of four
- Sharpie Marker
- Kneaded Eraser
- Charcoal Pencil
- White Conté Crayon
