Formulations (THREE DAY WORKSHOP)

Does the cost of your favorite oils, fats & butters have your head spinning? Would you like to ditch the Palm? Do allergies require the absence of Coconut or seed oils? Maybe you'd like to try something with more butters? Then this is the class for you.

The original Greencastle Soap recipe has served hundreds (thousands?) of us for decades, but many makers are needing alternatives. This class was created with those makers in mind. It's a 4 night collaborative where we discuss oils & fats beyond the traditional Olive, Coconut & Palm many handcrafted soaps are made of. The first evening you will design your own recipe (you will need your laptop or tablet the first evening). The second evening everyone will make the recipe they created the previous evening. On the third night we all come back to cut our loaves and assess the results of everyones efforts. The 4th night is scheduled for 6 weeks after the original class to allow time for our soaps to fully cure. Come back with a copy of the recipe you created in class and a couple bars of the soap you made. We will get to try everyone's soap and have some follow-up discussion. The 4th evening is optional, but encouraged.
