Ever wondered how mosaic artists cut all those gorgeous shapes? This is the class where you find out. Nip & Cut 101 is a 3-hour hands-on workshop focused entirely on the joy of cutting and nipping glass — with no project deadline hanging over you. You'll work through a satisfying progression of shapes using four key tools (glass cutter, running shears, grozing pliers, and wheeled nippers), and even try nipping a piece of dishware. Each student works with approximately four 4×6 sheets of glass plus additional materials. Everything you make is yours — organised into a divided box and ready for your next mosaic adventure. All materials and tools provided. Beginners warmly welcome.

What You'll Learn
In this three-hour hands-on workshop you'll learn the foundational cutting and nipping skills used by mosaic artists everywhere. No project pressure — just pure skill-building at your own pace.
You'll work with four essential tools: a glass cutter and running shears for scoring and snapping clean straight cuts, grozing pliers for refining and smoothing edges, and wheeled glass nippers for creating organic shapes. We'll also try nipping dishware — one of the most satisfying materials to work with.
Your Shape Progression
Starting with basic strips and rectangles, you'll work through a satisfying series of shapes — squares, circles, triangles, petals, raindrops, leaves, stems, hearts, and flowers. Each shape builds on the last, check them off as you go.
What You'll Take Home
Nearly a pound of your own hand-cut glass shapes and inclusions of your choosing, organized in a divided treasure box — sorted and ready to use in your next mosaic project. You'll also learn the clear tape method for preserving a design layout so your pieces stay arranged exactly the way you want them until you're ready to use them. We will do a fun challenge towards the end of our time together where you will use your scraps to create as many flowers and patterns on tape to save for future projects.
What's Included
All tools and materials are provided. Each student works with various colored 2×6 sheets of glass plus many additional materials to explore. No experience necessary — just curiosity and a willingness to nip.
