Join us for a 2-hour mosaic adventure where you'll craft a stunning 5x7 arch-shaped piece that's as functional as it is beautiful! This charming wall hanging features an attached test tube—perfect for displaying a single fresh flower that catches your eye or nurturing plant cuttings as they develop roots and grow into new plants.
Whether you're someone who loves bringing nature indoors, enjoys propagating houseplants, or simply appreciates the beauty of one perfect bloom in a bud vase, this project adds an artful touch to any space. Imagine a delicate sprig of lavender, a cheerful gerbera daisy, a cutting from your favorite pothos plant, or even a seasonal branch displayed in your handcrafted mosaic masterpiece!
What You'll Create:
Using the direct method, you'll arrange and glue colorful stained glass pieces, broken china, and decorative bits onto a pre-prepared 5x7 arch-shaped wood base. We've already done the prep work for you—your wooden base comes with a sawtooth hanger attached for easy wall mounting and copper wire securely fastened to hold your test tube. All you need to do is let your creativity flow!
What's Included:
Everything you need is provided! You'll have access to a stunning array of stained glass in various colors and textures, broken china with beautiful patterns, and assorted decorative elements to make your piece uniquely yours. We supply Weldbond adhesive (a mosaic artist's best friend!), safety equipment, nipping tools for custom-cutting glass to your desired shapes, and a complete take-home grouting kit with detailed instructions.
The Process:
We'll guide you step-by-step through the direct method of mosaicking. You'll learn how to plan your design, select colors that complement each other, use glass nippers to create custom shapes, and glue each piece securely in place. There's something wonderfully meditative about choosing each fragment, finding just the right spot for it, and watching your vision come to life piece by piece. Many students find the process surprisingly therapeutic—a chance to slow down, focus on something tangible, and let the everyday stress melt away.
After Class:
Once you've finished arranging and gluing your mosaic during class, you'll take your piece home to cure for at least 48 hours. This waiting period allows the adhesive to fully set and bond. After curing, you'll use your take-home grouting kit to fill the gaps between your glass pieces, wipe away the excess, and reveal the finished masterpiece. We include complete grouting instructions, so even if you've never grouted before, you'll feel confident tackling this final step!
No Experience Necessary:
This class welcomes complete beginners! Whether you've never touched a piece of stained glass or you're a seasoned crafter looking to try something new, you'll leave with a beautiful finished piece and new skills. Our instructors provide plenty of guidance, encouragement, and creative suggestions—but the artistic choices are entirely yours. There's no "wrong" way to create your mosaic, and that's part of the joy!
